Bárbara Gomes Simões, a proud Portuguese communications specialist, moved to the Washington D.C. area and started her career with an internship role as a Communications Associate at Connect4Climate, where currently she is filling a Communications Consultant position. Prior to this, Bárbara worked as a Communications Assistant with TAP Portugal, and with the ActivoBank in Portugal. She received a degree in Social Communication, with a concentration in Journalism, Marketing and Public Relations. Bárbara is particularly committed to youth empowerment and has worked on numerous international efforts (AIESEC, European Voluntary Service, Erasmus +), organizing and promoting different projects in Russia, Slovenia, Turkey, Spain, and Luxembourg.
Daniel Pinto Lopes, a graduate in Journalism, is from Covilhã, Portugal. Daniel spent a semester abroad studying at University Complutense in Madrid, Spain. He wanted to be disruptive, so he started off his career in a different but innovative way - Daniel decided to be an entrepreneur. It was this great experience that led him to fly high on his career. Before Connect4Climate, Daniel had the opportunity to work in media and telecom groups in Portugal. Moreover, he worked as an online content editor for Rock in Rio, the world's biggest music festival (USA, Brazil, Portugal, and Spain). He also worked in Bonn, Germany, for Deutsche Welle. Daniel has high organizational, communicational, and networking skills.
Dany Oliveira is a Marketing and Communication Specialist, experienced in brand management and startups fast growing culture. Dany worked as a Marketing Manager for two major Portuguese brands, where he was responsible for coordinating the marketing teams and managing +1ME budget. He collaborates in worldwide sports events like UEFA Champions League and World University Championship Futsal. Dany is high skilled in Digital Marketing, focused on Optimization Marketing Performance. He holds a degree in Journalism and a master in Marketing Strategy by the University of Minho in Portugal. Born in France, Dany wants to make an impact in the world by taking on climate change and inspire others to do the same.
Francis Dobbs worked in UK television and independent film production before moving to the World Bank Group media division 25 years ago. At the World Bank he ran a production unit producing a variety of videos on development issues and television documentary co-productions, before joining Connect4Climate to help plan and execute the program’s communications projects.
Giulia C. Braga is a communications professional passionate about the role of visual media and the arts in creating a better world. She coordinates Connect4Climate’s engagement with creative industries, as well as the Film4Climate global campaign dedicated to greening the silver screen. At Connect4Climate, she also works as creative and production senior consultant for several high-profile projects and events, including the recent “Fiat Lux: Illuminating Our Common Home” public art projection.
Grazia Atanasio is a development communication consultant providing support to World Bank projects promoting climate resilience. Grazia has been with the Bank for the last 15 years working in different regions on strategic communication and stakeholders’ engagement aspects of sustainable development operations. Lately Grazia is working mostly in the Africa region and particularly in Ethiopia, Mozambique, and Senegal. Grazia speaks English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese, in addition to her native language, Italian.
Inês Silva Araújo was born in Moledo do Minho, Portugal. She is graduated in Journalism and holds a master degree in Strategic Communication. She lived in Brazil where she improved her skills studying cinema and music and in Ireland where she worked at the Embassy of Portugal in Dublin. Her most challenging experience was in India, where she engaged in an international volunteer program to teach English in the slums of New Delhi. A woman passionate about the world that dedicates her time traveling and writing. She is currently taking the role of Communications Assistant at Connect4Climate, where she keeps on trying to make a difference by leaving her footprints, making an impact in the world and catching ‘l'instant decisif’.
Leigh Vogel is a photographer and communications consultant working on the Connect4Climate initiative since 2011. Leigh utilizes both imagery and communications strategy to reach audiences with targeted messages. She comes with a background as editor in chief of a national lifestyle publication and contributes images to agencies and clients including Getty Images, The Associated Press, Polaris Images, and UPI. She is credentialed to photograph on Capitol Hill and a member of the White House News Photographers Association. As a graduate of Georgetown University's masters in communications program, she is the Photography Fellow at the University's Center for Social Impact Communications, and developed a guide to help nonprofit organizations communicate strategically via imagery. Leigh is a recipient of the Center's Social Impact Award, recognizing commitment to positive social change.
Lucia Grenna created Connect4Climate in 2011, realizing the overwhelming need for effective and engaging climate change communications. The initiative has since grown into a major global partnership of concerned individuals and committed organizations. She was the task manager for the First World Congress on Communication for Development (WCCD, Rome 2006) that brought together for the first time more than 800 communication professionals engaged in development initiatives, policy- and decision-making, NGOs, community representatives, and academics from around the world to discuss how to mainstream development communication into development policies and practice. She was author of several articles and publications on communication for development. Prior to joining the World Bank, Grenna worked as a journalist in print and electronic media and produced hundreds of interviews on issues related to economic and social development. She worked in production and marketing of movies and documentaries, and was a team member of the World Bank/CNN Millennial campaign.
